Vermont in the fall has always been on my bucket list and I am so happy that I finally experienced its beauty in autumn! I just returned from a quick trip there and I’m already thinking of hopefully going back next year. This trip was planned only 10 days in advance and as much as we would have liked to have stayed right in Stowe, my friend, Laurie and I, were fortunate enough to have been able to book 3 nights at the La Quinta Inn & Suites at Burlington which is about a 45 minute drive west of Stowe(not bad at all). Everything in Stowe and Woodstock were booked solid the last weekend of September when we went as to be expected since it is the beginning of fall season. Having said this, when planning a trip to Vermont in the fall make sure you book your accommodations, car rental, and dinner reservations months in advance. The colors were about a few days shy of peaking during our short stay there nevertheless it was still really beautiful most everywhere you look. What you’ll see here are the things we did and where we ate in a day while in Stowe. I will also be sharing a blog post on Woodstock In One Day very soon so stay tuned for that. My outfits are linked below and if you need the fit details you can head to the highlight tab of my Instagram under Vermont Outfits.

Morning
• Breakfast: Since we stayed in the city of Burlington, we grabbed our Maple Lattes at Black Cap which is downtown. I also had Pecan Monkey Bread with my latte and it was the perfect combo. If you are staying in Stowe, I heard great things about Butler’s Pantry and PK Coffee for breakfast or brunch.
• What We Did: Visited Ben & Jerry’s Factory & Ice Cream Shop. Did you know this was the popular ice cream’s very first ever factory? The neatest thing here is that they have a tombstone of all the flavors they’ve retired. Don’t forget to take a pic with the Cowmobile truck and grab your favorite ice cream at the shop! Then drive and head on over and stroll down Stowe Main Street and pop in the different shops and restaurants. You will also get a view of the popular white steeple Stowe Community Church from the Main Street.

Main Street Stowe is really charming!
Noon
•Lunch: We ate at Doc Ponds which came highly recommended! We actually got a place at the bar which also serve food. We started the meal with their homemade Limoncello and it was really good! Laurie and I split the following food items: Mac and Cheese(made of Vermont Cheese), Half Chicken with Chimichurri and Cabbage Slaw, and Roasted Cauliflower. Everything was good but our favorite was the Mac and Cheese.
•What We Did: Just down the road and walking distance from Doc Ponds is a huge field where you can take a really great photo with the popular white steeple Community Church in the background. See photo just below. Just type in Salon Salon on your Google Map and it should take you to this vicinity!
•Ride the Gondola Skyride to catch amazing views of Mt. Mansfield(Vermont’s highest peak). As of 2021, the gondola costs about $31 per person.

You can take some great photos from this location(read above). Notice the white steeple church in the background.

Evening
•Cocktail Hours at Edson Hill. If you are not staying at this resort, make sure that you visit this beautiful property! I feel like this is Stowe’s hidden gem. We went at cocktail hour which starts at 5pm since dinner reservations were already booked for weeks here. Make sure you book weeks or months in advance if trying to have dinner here. Their outdoor patio seating has stunning views of the grounds and surrounding mountains. This is probably one of my favorite places we’ve seen while here in Stowe.
•Dinner: We ate at an Italian restaurant called Salute. Again, we got seated at the bar which was totally okay since they also serve food there! I had the Masala Chicken which was delicious but I really loved Laurie’s order which she let me try: Fresh Burrata with Prosciutto and Homemade Pasta. Yes, they make their own pasta but you have to special request it.
Other Favorite Things That Readers Have Recommended While In Stowe:
• Visit the Trapp Family Lodge.
• Go to Cold Hollow Cider Mill for all things apples. Enjoy apple cider, apple cider donuts, and other treats.
• Visit one of the breweries with the highest recommendation being The Alchemist. Don’t forget to designate a driver cuz rumor has it that beer-tasting here is topnotch.

View from the outdoor seating of Edson Hill Restaurant. It is breathtaking!

Get ready to just stop on the side of the road (or bridge) to snap some photos.

My friend, Laurie. We were having cocktails at Edson Hill in this pic. Vermont is a great girls weekend trip!

If you’re lucky you might even see not one but a double rainbow.
